G42 and Etisalat Group have signed a contractual agreement to integrate their data centre (DC) offerings in the UAE to offer next-generation digital infrastructure and build the UAE’s largest data centre provider, a total of twelve data centres will be integrated into a new joint venture firm called Khazna Data Centres.
G42 and Etisalat Group will hold 60 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively, of Khazna Data Centres. Without affecting their separate commercial positioning, customer connections, or leading market positions, the agreement allows both parties to improve the value of their infrastructural assets contributing to the joint venture while also optimizing process and resource utilisation in order to strengthen the UAE’s data centre proposition and economic ambition for the future.
As the levels of data produced, stored, and analysed is growing exponentially in the Middle East region, there arises a driving significant demand for wholesale data centres. The acquisition would reinforce the UAE’s position as a preferred destination for global technology firms seeking a world-class presence in the region, as well as accelerate its digital transformation journey, driving public and private organisations into a new era of intelligence, resilience, flexibility and commerciality in support of the UAE’s growth objectives.
With 300 MW of capacity, the Khazna Data Centres will be the crown jewel of supporting enterprises’ development and ability to manage the degree of connection necessary to efficiently offer services to partners, consumers, and users.
In addition, the Khazna Data Centres will continue to develop the existing business and explore new business opportunities, both in the UAE and overseas to drive the digital future and empower society.
